14th Apr 2023
RTC has announced that bp will sponsor the Environment and Energy zone at STEMFest - an inspirational three-day exhibition, set to connect more than 3,000 North East schoolchildren to future career options in industries linked with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The July event, hosted at the Vertu Motors Arena, will offer attending young people the opportunity to meet with regional businesses and employers. The event is organised by the North East STEM Hub which is delivered by RTC.
This year the event will be focused on four different themed zones; Space, Technology (Cyber Security), Environment and Energy, and Manufacturing.
bp’s operations team lead Dan Sherry who is based in Teesside, said: “As a long-standing supporter of STEM learning, bp is proud to sponsor STEMFest. It offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to better understand the skills they’ll need to develop careers in STEM and low carbon-linked sectors.”
Claire Willis, North East STEM Hub’s Team Leader and coordinator of STEMFest comments: “I want to thank bp for supporting our event. Events like these are integral learning opportunities for connecting young people in the North-East to industries within STEM.
Our event showcases how important STEM subjects are whilst highlighting opportunities available to young people in the region, STEMFest aims to inspire, engage, and enthuse.
With ongoing support from businesses including bp and our headline sponsor this year, Cummins, we can in return support the next generation into their sectors and work towards recruiting their future workforce to support the region’s economy.”
