Showing Love to our colleague Dawn Ross

14th Feb 2023

February is the month of love, so RTC is showing Dawn our appreciation for her commitment and dedication to her work which inspires everyone around her.

Dawn was a winner of a Special Recognition Award at the North East STEM Awards which took place in November last year.

Dawn was unable to collect her award that evening as she was on a holiday of a lifetime but her husband Alan organised a live video call so Dawn could find out she was a winner of one of these awards.

Special Recognition Awards go to individuals who dedicate outstanding contributions to STEM education in the North East. Dawn has worked as the team STEM Ambassador Coordinator for the NE STEM HUB for over seven years and is well known in this capacity across the region and has built her career on engaging and supporting businesses widely.

Liaising and working through hundreds of applications, DBS renewals, and arranging inductions with industry partners, Dawn has a keen eye for detail ensuring the STEM Ambassadors have an enjoyable experience from application to induction. In relation to schools, Dawn works alongside the Hub team to make sure teachers and schools can identify and articulate their needs, thus closing the gap between education and industry.

Dawn undoubtedly goes above and beyond in all aspects of her work and is truly driven. Janine Marshall, Head of Education and Skills at the North East’s STEM Hub comments:

“Within the North East STEM Hub Dawn is a hugely vital member of the team and well known for her tenacity and dedication to encouraging industry partners and STEM Ambassadors to be effective and impactful role models. Her “can do” attitude and willingness to just “get things done” ensures that the impact she creates through the STEM Ambassador programme truly does enrich the lives of our regional young people.

Dawn truly deserves this award for the hard work and dedication she shows each and every day and for making the STEM Ambassador programme what it is today.”
