RTC North has appointed Alexa Roditi to the North East STEM Hub as Events and Programme Coordinator.  

Alexa brings with her a depth of transferable knowledge, graduating with BSc in Biology and then an MSc in Biodiversity sciences (‘Quantitative methods in Biodiversity, Conservation and Epidemiology’) from the University of Glasgow.  

Most recently, Alexa has worked for the British Ecological Society as their Outreach Project Assistant. As part of that role, she supported the development and delivery of the Society’s outreach work, providing operational support for the ‘Connecting schools to nature in North-East England’ project specifically. This included running school workshops and training events, as well as promoting the project to a wider audience. Whilst at the Society, Alexa also helped set up the newly formed Equity and Diversity for all Genders in Ecology (EDGE) Network.   

Over the years Alexa has been involved in various science communication initiatives, from writing educational materials and articles to creating podcasts, exhibitions, and workshops for both school and non-school groups.   

The North East STEM Hub, delivered by RTC North, are involved in exciting collaborations and partnerships across the region centred around STEM education, skills, and development. These include STEM Enrichment programmes, Cyber First and Enthuse partnerships. Alexa Roditi comments:   

“I’m excited to build on the experience I already have and get involved across the diverse array of STEM projects and events that the hub delivers.”  

Joining the team as the STEM Events and Programmes Co-ordinator, Alexa will be involved with resources and kit club as well as supporting other programmes and events that the North East STEM Hub runs. Events including STEMFest and the North East STEM Awards as well as wider work with the team’s network of schools and STEM Ambassadors.  

Alexa adds “I’m really excited to join the STEM team at RTC North. They have such a fantastic reputation for their work in STEM education across the region and their status as a high performing hub. I can’t wait to work with everyone and get involved across the diversity of programmes and events that are on offer”.
