New Year, New Role for Claire Willis

27th Jan 2023

The New Year has brought with it a different role for Claire Willis at the North East STEM Hub, delivered by RTC North.

Following the more strategic development of the Hub and the promotion of the previous Team Leader, Janine Marshall to Head of Education and Skills, Claire now takes on the role of Team Leader.

Claire initially started at RTC North on a 6-month maternity cover in 2019 initially as their Education Relationships Manager, she then moved into a more Business Development role and now, Team Leader. Claire says,

“We have a brilliant team here at the hub all working hard to ensure that we offer our schools, industries and regional stakeholders a one-stop shop for STEM support within the North East. On the back of various successful initiatives and programmes that we are involved with, we are now delivering on more and more contracts and the future only looks busier!”

The role involves the operational day to day running of the hub, managing various contracts, reporting to the different funders and stakeholders as well as ensuring KPI’s and targets are met. This move enables the wider team to become more embedded in early discussions around skills and the future talent pipeline of the region as well as opening up further opportunities for collaboration, particularly those in high growth sectors.

Claire previously ran her own STEM Education business and has worked in STEM Education throughout her career not only in the North East but internationally delivering teacher CPD in Europe and development of education programmes and training as far away as Oman. Claire adds,

“My job is made so much easier working with such an amazing team who consistently achieve high performing hub status. I am sure that the team will continue to be regarded as the place to go for STEM support within the North East and beyond.”

These are exciting times for RTC and the North East STEM Hub as a concentration on strategic and business development will enable the hub to develop more collaborative partnerships around Education and STEM, enhancing the skills element of not only RTC but the region.
