STEMFest Newcastle – The Countdown Is On
08th Aug 2025
In just 2 months, STEMFest, organised by the STEM Hub, delivered by RTC North, is set to return to the North East from 7th to 9th October at the Vertu Motors Arena, Newcastle. The event continues to prove its popularity, with school registrations selling out in an astonishing three minutes.
Over the course of three days, more than 3,000 young people aged 9 to 13 from schools across the region will take part in an extraordinary celebration of innovation and learning, where education meets industry.
The exhibition space will feature 50 local businesses from across the STEM sectors, delivering fun, hands-on sessions designed to spark curiosity and showcase career opportunities in areas such as space, technology, environment/ energy, and manufacturing.
With a focus on themed zones reflecting key growth sectors in the region, students will have the chance to engage directly with professionals, explore real-world applications of STEM, and discover the latest innovations shaping the future.
Dawn Ross, Partner Liaison Coordinator at the STEM Hub comments:
“We’re thrilled to be bringing STEMFest back to Newcastle! Each year, the event grows more exciting, and we can't wait to showcase even more cutting-edge innovations and interactive experiences. It’s inspiring to see how STEM continues to shape the future, and we look forward to welcoming more students, professionals, and companies to join us in celebrating the power of science, technology, engineering, and maths.”
This is a valuable opportunity for businesses to connect with their future workforce and showcase the incredible work being done in the North East’s thriving STEM community.
In addition to the vibrant exhibition space filled with interactive, hands-on activities there will be pre-bookable workshops running across the three days led by industry experts:.
CyberSprinters – Primary School Day: Award-winning interactive online security resources for children aged 7–11. As young people grow up in an increasingly digital world, they face both opportunities and risks online. CyberSprinters empowers them to make smart decisions about staying secure online.
Enigma – Secondary School Day: Students will join our CyberFirst partners in their top-secret hideout to learn the skills used by wartime codebreakers during World War II. They’ll then be tested with an exciting codebreaking challenge.
Planetarium – Gives students an opportunity to go on a journey through Space inside Immersive Experience’s inflatable dome!
Cyber Heist – An interactive Cyber Security adventure - guided by Scout, an AI-powered cyber dog, students will solve a series of escalating puzzles involving encryption, phishing and digital forensics to recover stolen data.
Mars Mapping – Delivered by Jim Christensen, former Director of Education at the Kennedy Space Centre, this resource explores key events and key landmarks on our closest neighbours in Space, the Moon and Mars.
