Under the Data Protection Act 1998 an individual has the right to check what information is being held about them and to request a copy of that information. This is referred to as a "Subject Access Request" (SAR)
Related rights regarding personal information includes revealing the source of the information (if known), the purposes for which that information is held and to whom information may be disclosed. Should a computer programme be used for decision making the logic behind the decisions should be explained.
Subject Access Requests should be made in writing to the Data Protection Officer at the address below including the following information:
Full name and address
Telephone and email details specifying the best method for contact
Proof of your identity
Sufficient details about the information you want to enable us to locate it

Please note a charge may be made for supplying the information.
The request will be acknowledged and if further information is required regarding the request you will be contacted via the specified method.
The request will be dealt with as promptly as possible but within the statutory 40 days of receiving the written request, additional clarification information or the receipt of any fee that has been requested.
Should any of the information held be incorrect then amendments will be made accordingly following notification.
It should be noted that there are exceptions within the Data Protection Act that allows for the refusal to supply all the information held
Any individual has the right to opt out of their details being used for marketing purposes or to be removed from any mailing lists.
A request for removal of personal details from marketing lists should be made in writing, to the Data Protection Officer at the above address. The request will receive immediate attention.
